Our Story thus far. This week in Autumn Lake. Good strips and bad. Vegetables I like and don't like. What vegetables do YOU hate? Bananas. I ate an orange! Nectarines. Did you ever have one of THOSE days? A not-so-funny comedy of cable errors. Drawing hands. Recording blunder. The characters do have voices (they don't actually talk to me). "A Garden in the Rain" by John MacCormick (1929). New Autumn Lake shop is in the offing. New t-shirt and coffee mug options!

Our story thus far. Seventy degrees in January! Dietry off to a slow start. Clark Bars were my downfall! Flavored coffee and cigars. Ambient/natural sound. A new gadget that didn't pan out. A "Chris Reardon." Natural sound vs. broadcast sound. Tax time approaching. Do you file right away, or wait for the last minute? Advertising for the site and on the site. Project Wonderful. Comics Sherpa. How many readers does the strip have? "Autumn Lake" is an odd duck compared to other webcomics. "I'm In The Market For You" (1930).

Our story thus far. A week of snowmen! The new 2008 calendars now available in the Autumn Lake Shop. Did you like the New Year's comic? One of my New year's resolutions is losing weight. It's not easy when you sit about all day in an office. Lunching co-workers make you want to eat more! Coffee errors. Too much sugar and creamer goes straight to the ol' waistline. Bad coffee neighbors. Why I don't really exercise. Bad teachers. The frowny-faced Mr. Black and the Rope of Doom. Why I don't like math. It's all Mrs. Wall's fault! Math... for FUN?! Madness! Fast food. Soda can make you tubby. Coffee phase, tea phase. Brewski and wine are no-nos late in the evening. Walking is pretty much out where I live. I hate humidity! Phoenix was nice, but I wouldn't wanna live there. Vegetable misters over the sidewalks. "I Adore You" by The Leo Reisman Orchestra, vocal by Harry Maxfield (1927).

Our story thus far. A Kitty Emergency! New Year's upon us. Holidays can be really lame when you're alone. They all come right in a row! If holidays get you down, it makes you wonder what's wrong with you. Did you like the Christmas comic? Grouching doesn't pay. Have you made any New Year's resolutions? Make sure they're ones you can achieve. Back to the old comic grind. "Auld Lang Syne" by the Adanac Quartet (1923).

Don't forget to designate your driver on New Year's Eve!

Happy New Year's!

Our story thus far. I'll finish the storyline by Christmas, as promised. Soviet Era Christmas cards. Mark's Christmas Spritz Cookies. Do you have a fireplace? The mystique of the nibbled-on cookies. Santa was here! People who don't let their kids "do Christmas" are selfish. Commercialism sours Christmas... (but you could still visit the Autumn Lake Shop!). Christmas morning. Oatmeal!

Our story thus far. Christmas is in nine days! Is Dennis a no-good rat? The weather in Not New England. Seventy degrees in December?! Wrong, wrong, wrong! Snow in New England thanks to a Nor'easter. Gene Autry. "If It Doesn't Snow on Christmas How Will Santa Use His Sleigh?" "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and "Are My Ears On Straight?" sung by Gayla Peavey. Computer-compatible turntables. "Santa Hides in Your Phonograph" by Harry E. Humphrey (1922). Space News. Voyager 2 discovers the heliopause is bent. A spy satellite breaks up over New England. Was it the  S.S. Clyde? THEMIS Project discovers the source of the Northern Lights. The last two weeks of our story have been severely condensed. What I need to do to complete the story for the book (again!). The escape hatch. The missing galley. Repairs and the not-so-patchwork rocketship. Scenes I never made. Next week is our Christmas Show!

Our story thus far. I was updating the blogpage, hence an accidental RSS ping. Snow in Not New England! Snow season has begun in New England proper, thanks to that big storm. Last season's warm spell was hard on the economy as well as the maple syrup makers. Pearl Harbor Day. Free beer for life for Harry Patch, World War I vet from the UK. Beowulf in 3D. The animation looks great, for CGI! The new-style 3D glasses. Trailers in 3D. Check out the "Autumn Lake" anaglyphs on the "Autumn Lake" website. The new digital cameras and projectors makes 3D much more cost-effective. I've never been to IMAX. Classic 3D movies. "Hondo", "Dial M For Murder" would be nice to have in 3D on DVD! How to view stereocards without a viewer. World War I in 3D. How to make a stereocard. "Cat-Women of the Moon" (1953). Versions of "A Christmas Carol". "The Awakening of Scrooge" (1914). Alistair Sim.

"Scrooge" with Alistair Sim (1951)
"A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott (1984)
"A Christmas Carol" with Seymour Hicks (1935)
"A Christmas Carol" with Patrick Stewart (1999)
"An American Christmas Carol" (1979)
Animated Version of "A Christmas Carol" (1972)

"Latest thing in flasks. Mlle. Rhea, dainty dancer who is now in the city as part of the Keiths program inaugurates the garter flask fad in Washington." -January 26, 1926

Our story thus far. Spacewalk sequence in the comic strip and from those old rocketship movies. You can't really fall off a spaceship. Getting back to Earth in time for Christmas. Frosty weather! December is upon us. Prohibition repealed December 5, 1933. The 18th and 21st Amendments. Dry Laws are dumb. Al Capone. Openly flaunting the Law. The girl with the flask in her garter. Eliot Ness and the Untouchables. Robert Stack. Alfred Smith, presidential candidate of 1928. Why Dry Laws don't work. I can just drive across the bridge to get booze! I can even booze it up on Sunday if I want. Esther Walker sings "Sahara, We'll Soon Be Dry Like You" (1919). The wine my parents bought. The goodness of wine, and how I learned about it. In your face, Prohibition!
